Correia glass represents a consumate marriage of art and function. It appeals simultaneously to one’s tactile, visual, and aesthetic senses, and begs to be used, to be felt, and to be observed. It is very rare, except when it enhances a design, that Correia uses molds, employing instead a process called freehand-blowing. “We are one of only a small number of studios in the world using this techique and rely solely on the skill of our glassblowers for the creation of our pieces.” And, while this process is much more time-consuming and costly, it ensures that every piece has a uniqueness all its own. For these reasons, each piece is signed, dated and registered so that its authenticity can be verified for generations to come.
